Why choose this program

The programme focuses on the main legal and regulatory frameworks governing the activities of organizations, both nationally and at European and international level. During the program, the rules and business ethics that must be applied by organizations and stakeholders (employees, customers, partners, suppliers, society, etc.) are interpreted. Methods and tools for assessing, monitoring and reporting the risk of (non) compliance, as well as mechanisms for preventing, addressing and correcting breaches are analyzed.

In the context of the programme, particular importance is given to examining the role and responsibilities of boards, committees, internal and external auditors, notified bodies and supervisory authorities in relation to Regulatory Compliance.

Among other things, issues are examined in detail  such as the Law 4706/2020 regarding Corporate Governance in Listed Companies, Law Ν. 4548/2018 on the reform of public limited liability, GDPR and law Ν.4624/2019 for Data Protection, Law 4990/2022 for Whistleblowing, Law 4557/2018 on the prevention and suppression of money laundering and terrorist financing, Law 4808/2021 prohibiting violence and harassment at work, Law 4443/2016 on the general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation, and Law 3556/2007 on the transparency of listed companies. Finally, the good practices and standards followed in various industries and countries to enhance Regulatory Compliance and develop a positive corporate culture are highlighted.

Objectives of the Program

The aim of the program is to train students in the theoretical and practical knowledge required to work as professionals in the field of Regulatory Compliance. During the program, students will learn and develop how to interpret and apply the legal and regulatory framework governing the activities of the organizations they employ, how to assess and manage the risks associated with (non) compliance, how to establish and promote the rules of ethics and business ethics,  and how to cooperate with supervisors and internal and external auditors.

In addition, the aim of this program is to contribute to the development of a professional profile that is in demand and value in the market, as Regulatory Compliance is an area that constantly faces new challenges and changes, due to the evolution of legislation, technology, the market and social needs. Also, the aim of the program is to contribute to the strengthening of corporate governance,  transparency and integrity of organizations, as well as the protection of the interests of the parties involved. In this context, continuous updating and training  of Compliance  professionals is necessary and this is achieved through the collaborations of the program with professional associations and organizations to create a network of cooperation and exchange of experience and knowledge among executives employed in the field.

The MSC Applied Risk Management uses the eclass (http://eclass.uoa.gr/) platform eClass is an educational free platform that supports a large number of online courses with thousands of users participating in them.

It is a successful channel of communication between trainers and trainees. In the e-class environment the student proceeds to register electronicly in the courses he attends. Within the framework of the MSc Applied Risk Management, each Thematic Module has an annual duration, so the student proceeds to enroll in each Thematic Module at the beginning of each academic year.

The online course is the core of the Open eClass platform. Each Thematic Module is a stand-alone entity on the platform that integrates a number of subsystems. The following features are supported in each online course:

  • Agenda, which presents in time the important events of each Thematic Module (lectures, meetings, deliveries of work, etc.).
  • Documents, where the educational material of the Module is posted, stored, organized and presented.
  • Announcements, from the lecturers and the Msc Secretariat concerning the Thematic Module and informing registered users, trainers and trainees.
  • Discussion areas, for the exchange of views and ideas on topics related to the course. It is a subsystem of instructor-learner interaction.
  • Links – useful sources from the Internet related to the course and grouped into categories.
  • Tasks, a useful tool that allows the electronic management, submission and scoring of the work of each Thematic Module. In this field lecturers post the assignments which students are invited to submit together with all the necessary information (final dates, sources, etc.)
  • Course Description, a place where information about the subject matter, objectives, educational activities, aids, methods of evaluation, etc. of the course is presented.
  • Chat, is a subsystem that provides the ability to chat in real time.
  • Teleconference is a subsystem that provides the possibility of electronic videoconferencing.

Also, the e-class platform can be used to inform you about various topics on lecturers of the individual courses that make up a module, to find the written assignments and supplementary material (e.g. clarifications, commentary on written papers, new publications), useful material (e.g. paragraphs of the manuals, addresses from useful websites , new scientific articles) as well as answers to frequently asked questions (“FAQs”) that you may have.  You can also find posted additional digital teaching material for each Thematic Module of the program.

In addition to the possibility of holding teleconferences through the e-class platform, within the framework of the MSc, teleconferences are also held through the Webex.
